Studio Content Intern

The Content Department at SNY is responsible for the day-to-day planning and production of SNY’s on-air and digital schedule. Interns will contribute to the production of daily programs such as “Baseball Night in NY”, “Mets Pre Game Live”, “Mets Post Game Live” and “SportsNite”, while while also supporting the Content group in various production and marketing related initiatives including research, audio/video production, and news gathering.

City & State New York is the go-to publication for New York’s true politics nerds. We’re a small team, but we consistently break big stories and drive political discourse with our profiles, election trackers, scoops, and analysis. That’s to say nothing of our occasionally unique magazine covers.

The Role

City & State is seeking a curious, independent, and driven editorial intern to join our editorial team. From day one, you’ll take on serious stories about the people who call the shots in New York. Previous interns have interviewed candidates for governortracked legislation and held officials accountable. You’ll be part of the team as we cover the 2026 primaries and the first year of the Mamdani administration, and you’ll be an essential voice in editorial discussions and pitch meetings.

This is a paid, three-month, part-time (about 16 hours per week) internship beginning in June 2026. This internship will be hybrid, with in-person reporting and work at our Manhattan office encouraged. This internship pays $20 per hour.

Responsibilities 

  • Pitch, report and write stories covering New York City and state politics
  • Support reporters and editors with research on long-term projects
  • Spot coverage of events such as press conferences, campaign events and rallies

Health Communications Careers Panel 

The event will take place on Wednesday, February 25, from 2:00–3:15 PM in Room 104, Shepard Hall. It will feature industry professionals who will discuss career pathways in health communications and offer practical guidance for students interested in the field. The panel will include a moderated discussion followed by a Q&A session.

Your Role Accountabilities 

Duties could include:

  • Conduct research on various topics, individuals, and current events to support the show’s editorial process. Compile relevant information for use in on-air segments and interviews.
  • Work closely with producers, researchers, and other show team members to contribute to the development of news stories, segments, and interviews. Participate in editorial meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  • Participate in various aspects of show production, including preparing scripts, graphics, and video elements. Help with logistics for on-location shoots, interviews, and live broadcasts.
  • Contribute to the show’s social media presence by creating engaging content, live-tweeting during broadcasts, and participating in audience engagement efforts.
  • Attend workshops, training sessions, and mentoring opportunities designed to enhance your journalistic skills and industry knowledge.
  • Work with producers from story inception to finished package.
